Guidelines for Behavior at Youth Conference

Read the guidelines and expectations for behavior during Youth Conference so you can help your District have a great, safe experience.

Responsibilities of a Youth District Leader

As a Youth District Leader (YDL), you are the shepherd to 8-10 other youth—both young women and young men—watching over and caring for each member of your district just as the Savior would.

  • Know the name of each district member, and seek to get to know them personally. Watch out for each person—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

  • Pray that you and your district members will grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, increase their testimony of the Restoration, and be motivated to do God’s work.

  • Lead District Reflect and Review sessions with your co-YDL. Encourage participation from all members.

  • Help maintain a spirit of quiet reverence in the Sacred Grove. Lead the Sacred Grove district devotional with your co-YDL.

  • Ensure that time driving in the van is used for meaningful, positive, uplifting discussions, singing, and activities. Your Adult Advisors will help you.

  • Encourage your district members to seek for and listen to the Spirit, and to record their feelings and impressions in their conference journal.

  • Know where your district members are at all times. Make sure the buddy system is being used.

  • Quickly but kindly put an end to any unkindness, disrespect, irreverence, or dangerous behavior. Let your Adult Advisors know if you or a member of your district needs help.
